Thanks to the generous support of the island community, we own the building at 517 State Road and are the Landlords for the Family Planning, Health Imperatives Clinic. Our continued efforts are to keep the rent low on the space used by the Sexual and Reproductive Health Clinic operated by Health Imperatives ($500 per month). Friends’ ability to rent to Health Imperatives for $500 per month saves them $4871.00 per month which is what the island’s 2019 commercial rental rate per square foot was. Over the years, we have funded the Clinic for essential equipment and paid for weekly cleaning. We provide clinic staff with a discretionary fund, which can be used for anything including training and conference attendance. We have funded the travel needs for off island clinicians who come to provide services when on island staff is not available. We act as good stewards of the property used by the Clinic by providing maintenance and upgrades. We have installed new windows, new air conditioners, new roof and gutters, and landscaping of the perennial beds. We worked with an island contractor, John Anderson, for mold remediation and painting in two of the clinic’s rooms.
